Card Project - Nature (Sunflower)

This month’s blog hop has a nature theme. The card I decided to make is a Sunflower Fields book-binding fold card.
I am still stuck on the lovely late summer/ autumnal colours and couldn’t resist sharing this gorgeous Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper (DSP). It has these lovely browns and golden colours but also has bright yellows and greens on a white background as well as some more subtle contrasting papers.
The sentiment is one of my forever favourites – what a lovely message to send to someone! I chose the little flower dies because I wanted to add some stand out colour that didn’t detract from the lovely design.

Measurements
Pecan pie base 28 x 13.5cm
Mat layers early espresso 11.5 cm x 13cm, 2.5cm x 13cm and 5cm x 7cm
Pecan pie4.5cm x 6.5cm
Basic white 10cm x 12.5cm inside panel and 4cm x 6cm for sentiment
Scraps of Granny Apple Green, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight,Early Espresso card stock for die cuts

Collect everything you need ready to start your project.

Cut Pecan Pie card to 28cm x 13.5cm. Score at 11cm and 14cm. Use a a bone folder to burnish the folds. Fold along the 14cm line and work with the fold on your left.
Apply Multi- purpose adhesive to the back of your Designer Series Paper and stick the the Early Espresso layer, repeat with the contrasting piece. Stick them onto the front of the card.

Use a blending brush to add a light hint of colour to the sentiment piece using Crumb Cake ink. It doesn’t need lots of colour, just enough to take off the starkness of the Basic White card. Stamp the sentiment with Pecan Pie ink. Layer onto the Pecan Pie card and the onto the Early Espresso piece.

Add a piece of the new Neutrals Jute string onto the smaller section of the front. You could use Linen Thread but I prefer the bolder colour of the jute instead. Use Multi-purpose adhesive to stick the smaller section with the jute closed. Stick your sentiment onto the card front.

Die cut a selection of flowers and leaves for the front of your card. Arrange the leaves and flowers onto the card front. I used Daffodil Delight for the flowers. They have a hole in the centre so I cut out some Early Espresso flowers so that I could fill the holes. The photo shows how I used a mini Dimensional for each flower and popped them onto the card. I then used my pick tool to pick up the brown centres to put them into to holes in the centre of the yellow flowers – the Dimensionals will hold them in place.

I used Multi-purpose adhesive to stick the white layer inside the card and stuck the brown flowers flat onto the bottom corner. Because I didn’t have the Dimensionals underneath, I used a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend to colour the centre once the glue had properly dried.
