Welcome to my blog post featuring a quick and easy card that is suitable for any of your DIY friends. I have geared it towards less feminine colours but it looks great with any colour combo.
The new catalogue due out ready for orders from 1st May 2024, has a feature helping us to choose colours (p132/133). Taking the advice from there I chose 3 analogous colours. That means they are close to each other on the colour wheel and work together to create harmony and balance! I never knew it had a name but it always seems to work for me!
Here’s how to make the card.
Get your equipment ready
Cut a landscape base in white, a layer in Pretty Peacock, and a stamping layer in Basic White.
Mount the paintbrush stamp and the fill in stamp on to acrylic blocks.
Stamp 3 paint brush outlines side by side on the stampin layer. Leave it to dry.
When it is dry, ink up the filler stamp with your choice of colour. I chose Basic Grey. I stamped off before stamping the infill of the paintbrush, repeat with the other two brushes.
Using Stampin’ Write markers colour 3 strips of ink on to an acrylic block.
Use a broad water pen that is slightly wet to pick up the colour.
Draw 3 lines away from the stamped paint brushes.
Stamp and mount a sentiment to add to the card. I chose a simple Happy Birthday but the Trusty Tools stamp set includes “You Are Awesome”, “Dad” and “Happy Fathers Day” so you could use any of those.
